Written Safety Program · General Construction

1. Safety Policy Statement

Your Company is committed to providing a safe workplace for every employee. Safety is a core condition of employment and takes priority over production. Management provides the resources, training, and equipment needed to work safely, and every employee is responsible for following safe work practices on every job.

2. Roles & Responsibilities

The designated safety officer for Your Company is [designate a safety officer]. The safety officer maintains this program, conducts training and inspections, investigates incidents, and keeps required records current. Supervisors enforce safe practices and correct hazards. Employees follow this program, use required PPE, and report hazards and injuries immediately.

3. Hazard Communication (HazCom)

Your Company maintains a written Hazard Communication program. A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is kept accessible for every hazardous chemical on site, containers are labeled, and employees are trained on chemical hazards before exposure.

4. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

A hazard assessment determines required PPE for each task. Hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility apparel, and appropriate footwear are required on active work areas. Task-specific PPE is provided and its use enforced.

5. Training & Toolbox Talks

Your Company trains employees on this program at hire and when conditions change. Toolbox talks are held regularly, and attendance is documented and retained as part of the company's prequalification and audit records.

6. Incident Reporting & OSHA Recordkeeping

All injuries, illnesses, and near misses are reported to [designate a safety officer] immediately. Recordable cases are entered on the OSHA 300 log, the 300A summary is posted Feb 1–Apr 30, and TRIR/DART rates are tracked for client prequalification.

7. Emergency Action Plan

Each jobsite has a documented emergency action plan covering evacuation routes, assembly points, emergency contacts, and first-aid/medical response. Employees are briefed on the plan during site orientation.

8. Safety Accountability

Following this program is a condition of employment at Your Company. Safe behavior is recognized; violations are addressed progressively, up to and including termination for serious or repeated breaches.

9. Fall Protection

Fall protection is provided and used for work at heights of 6 feet or more in construction. Guardrails, personal fall arrest systems, or other compliant methods are selected per task, inspected before use, and covered in employee training.

10. Ladder & Stairway Safety

Ladders are inspected before use, set up on stable surfaces at proper angles, and used per manufacturer limits. Damaged ladders are removed from service.

This is a starting template to help organize your written safety program. Review and customize it for your operations and confirm requirements against OSHA and each client/platform. It is not legal or safety advice or a certification of compliance.
